Update: May 10, 2016
Read here about one of the reasons the testing rate is likely to go up.
The testing rate 2016 is 25%. Read FMCSA’s Notice of program change here.
I’m talking about random drug testing for commercial drivers of trucks and buses. This is the first change since the drug and alcohol programs began in the 1990’s.
Don’t get comfortable with that. The statistics are skewed.
Of the 1.2 million motor carriers currently working in the US, 1,654 were surveyed for their drug and alcohol testing results.
Lets do the math on that.
0.137%. So less than 1% were surveyed. Not a number i’m comfortable with.
So its great we have this lull of only testing 25% of our commercial drivers, don’t count on it for next year.
