CDL Medical Certificate

There are so many questions about the CDL Medical Certificate.

One of the main questions was should drivers keep the paper receipt from their states DMV, or copy of the medical exam itself.

CVSA (Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance) issued a revision to their “guideline” but the federal regulation did not change. Confused? The Federal Regulation states that after you are issued a CDL Medical Certificate, you should carry the paper copy for 15 days.

So…when you hand over your medical certificate to your state DMV , or your medical examiner transmits the test electronically, DMV is required to enter the information within 10 days. But we all know how the DMV works. SLOWLY. Fortunately the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance realized this and revised the guidelines.
